Dear everyone,
Happy New Year! I hope you’ve had a great start to 2025. I’m looking forward to all the exciting sailing activities we have ahead of us.
It’s been a while since I mentioned the plans for our youth sailors in 2025, and I’m sure many clubs have been busy making new plans for the year. I’m eager to hear from each club about how their youth programs are developing.
Is your club planning to participate in a youth camp or the Youth Cup? Please drop me a quick update via email or WhatsApp at 079 485 48 44. If you’re facing challenges in forming a team, let me know, and I’ll be happy to help find a solution.
To support new youth teams, the SSLA has organized two Youth Camps during the summer holidays. These camps are an excellent opportunity to prepare for the Youth Cup, focusing on boat handling and racing-related skills.
The official youth age for J70 is up to 23 years, but we can make exceptions for slightly older participants—just reach out to me if this applies to someone in your team.
Youth Camps Schedule:
- July 7–11: Youth Camp in Rolle (French and English)
More details here - July 14–18: Youth Camp in Spiez (German and English)
More details here
Youth teams are also welcome to join the other camps listed here: All camp information
Youth Cup:
- September 6–7: Youth Cup in Kreuzlingen
The Youth Cup will take place on Saturday and Sunday. On Friday, September 5, we’ll offer training races with the official setup, where the race committee will run standard races. If more than 8 teams wish to join the Friday training, we’ll create a pairing list.
Stay Updated
We’ve created a WhatsApp group for SSLA Youth topics to share updates and coordinate activities. You’re welcome to join via this link: https://chat.whatsapp.com/HmTrpwwXeI9JsKHtW6oNW5
I’m excited to hear updates from your clubs and see how we can continue to grow youth sailing together!
Best regards,
Livia
